IKEA released its Förnuftig air purifier to considerable fanfare in April 2021. Its good looks and low price got it written up favorably in Wired and with appropriate skepticism in Fast Company. Meanwhile, Reddit lit up with questions and opinions, and Gear Patrol reviewed it. We requested a unit to test, which IKEA was happy to send. We knew from its specs that it was unlikely to become a Wirecutter recommendation, but as with the awful Molekule Air and Molekule Air Mini, the sheer amount of hype around the Förnuftig obliged us to run it through its paces and answer readers’ questions about it.
