I’m a theme-park journalist. (Yes, that’s a real job, and no, it’s not all cotton candy and roller coasters!) I spend my days obsessing about everything from how Butterbeer was created to real-life raptors that tried to claim a new Jurassic World–themed ride. And after a year experiencing log flumes and meet-and-greets through various screens, I know that no Disney+ binge session or ride-through video can replicate the experience of spotting Goofy at a distance or flying above Peter Pan’s whimsical replica of London. And then there’s the food. (Don’t ask me how many gadgets I’ve acquired in a quest to reverse-engineer theme park popcorn at home.)
